INSECT SERVICES

ANTS

We deal with every type of ant, including the most common types, the black ant and the garden ant

If you have an ant issue indoors - the chances are you'll never find the nest. The nest will be hidden in or below the foundations or in a cavity you can't access. However, we have a treatment that the workers will take back to the ant nest, destroying it.

For flying ants, we have very effective contact insecticides that will resolve the issue for you. Sometimes more than one treatment is required.

BED BUGS

Bed bugs thrive in our home, and other environments. They feed on human blood, but when they lack a ‘host’ can lie dormant for up to 18 months.

Bed Bugs can be difficult to spot because of their nocturnal habits, the most obvious sign of bed bugs are bites on the skin that can become itchy and swollen for some time and specks of blood left on the bedding. For any commercial business, immediate action is necessary.

COCKROACHES

Cockroaches are large insects with long antennae and 2 pairs of wings. The most common cockroach in the London area are the German and Oriental . They breed rapidly, eat almost anything and will tolerate many different habitats. The average adult may live for up to six months.

They are often found in the home and are problematic to businesses. Especially in the catering sector because they carry diseases such as salmonella, typhoid and dysentery.

Cockroaches like places that contain food, warmth and water. Many infestations begin in areas that have poor levels of hygiene and will look for other suitable premises that possess ideal situations for them to feed and breed.

FLEAS

Fleas have 4 stages, 2 of which - eggs and pupae - no insecticide can kill.

The most common sign of a flea problem is their irritating bites. Fleas only jump around 1-2 ft off the ground, therefore bites are usually found around the lower leg and ankles. However if fleas have infested a bed or sofa they will bite any part of the body.

Pet problems: If your cat and dog are regularly itching and scratching, it is likely they have a problem. Check pet bedding for signs of the fleas. If you catch it early you may only have to treat the pet bedding rather than the whole house.

Sightings: If you have a problem you can often see them jumping about. These insects generally look black and are approximately 1mm in size.

FLIES

Flies can be a problem, especially in food preparation commercial premises such as restaurants and fast food establishments.

If you're trying to protect a kitchen or food area of some sort, we recommend using sticky board rather than technology fly killers. This type of fly killer can be expensive to run and they blast out pathogens into the surrounding areas. There are more cost effective alternatives, such as a sticky board, which produce good results as the insects get stuck rather than blasted. However, there are circumstances where a technology fly killer is more appropriate.

MOTHS

If you notice damage in your clothes or carpets it is likely that you may have a moth problem which requires attention. Other signs are the physical sightings. Common clothes moths are between 5 and 7mm in size and yellowish-brown in colour.

It is the larvae that cause the damage to natural fabrics. Pantry moths feed on stored food products and contaminate food stuffs. These are often found in kitchen cupboards and larder store areas. They are approximately 10mm in size and a darker colour.

WASPS

The wasp is a pest, and has been around for a very long time. They are a real nuisance and usually occupy holes in and around the home, garden sheds, holes in the ground, compost heaps and other little cracks and crevices, wasps nest are often found in lofts.

Wasps nest should not be disturbed and if you see wasp activity in or around your home you should seek immediate assistance.

FERAL PIGEONS

Birds, particularly pigeons are a nuisance in public areas and are known for spreading diseases.

Derelict buildings, ledges and roof tops are a few examples of areas providing the perfect roosting ground for birds, including pigeons and gulls.

Not only do bird droppings add to the cleaning costs of commercial and residential buildings, but diseases and mites harbour in these droppings, posing a serious health risk.
